Mr. Salman Khurshid plays a pivotal role as a guide and a mentor to DWF. His vast experience in education, both inside government and in the voluntary sector is a valuable asset in our unique endeavour. His fifteen years as President, Delhi Public School Society, saw exponential growth of schools making the Society a landmark in school education.
Mr Khurshid distinguished himself at St Stephen’s College, Delhi University (BA Hons) and St Edmund Hall, Oxford (MA, BCL Juris) before teaching Jurisprudence at Trinity College, Oxford. Upon return to India he worked as OSD to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi before joining the Bar at the Supreme Court of India. His association with Oxford continues as Honorary Fellow of St. Edmund Hall.
Grandson of India’s Third President, Dr Zakir Husain and son of the late Governor of Goa and Karnataka, Mr Khurshid Alam Khan, Salman Khurshid has been Minister of Corporate Affairs, Minority Affairs, Water Resources, Law & Justice, and External Affairs. He has several books to his credit including the play, ‘The Sons of Babar’.
Louise Khurshid, is an accomplished journalist, a brilliant writer, a Politician, former M.L.A. and on the Governing Council of Welham Boys School, Dehradun. She has pioneered several ventures and with her passion and zeal, today Delhi World Foundation has 62 schools operational and several to commence in coming days with more than twenty four thousand students enrolled at present.
Mrs Khurshid’s vision is to create well rounded individuals by taking the road less travelled, but a road which is filled with adventure, curiosity & wonder. Emphasis is laid on learning from the environment, combining spiritual philosophies with different subjects in the curriculum.
